noise abatement Airport sponsor published verified 2026-08-28 (42 d ago)
Published by the airport sponsor; voluntary unless ATC assigns it. If ATC assigns this route to you in Class B, C or D airspace, that assignment is an ATC instruction and compliance is required (14 CFR 91.123) — and “unable” remains available to the pilot in command.
Vy climbs, reduce RPM when safe, standard or higher glidepath, overfly road corridors, no intersection departures, quiet hours 2200-0500.
The route
- Climb out at best rate of climb (Vy) to be as high as possible as quickly as possible
- Reduce RPM when safe — lower propeller speeds produce less noise
- Fly a standard or higher glide path; shallow approaches expose neighborhoods to additional noise
- Overfly major road corridors and/or open space when able
- No intersection departures — using the full length is safer and gets you higher before the perimeter
- Runway 30R is the designated primary, calm-wind runway
- Quiet hours: no departures 2200-0500 unless required for currency or training per federal regulations; no engine maintenance run-ups 2200-0600 except in an emergency
- Limit to 10 touch-and-go operations; no more than 8 aircraft per runway; no more than 4 aircraft in the north runway pattern at night
When it applies
- Runway 30R or 12L or 30L or 12R or 3 or 21 — all operations Airport-wide voluntary guidance; runway 30R is named as the primary calm-wind runway

Friendly Flying Climb out at best rate of climb (Vy). This ensures that aircraft are as high as possible as quickly as possible. Reduce RPM when safe. Lower propeller speeds produce less noise. Fly standard or higher glide path. Shallow approaches expose neighborhoods to additional noise. Overfly major road corridors and/or open space when able. Runway 30R is designated the primary, calm-wind runway. Westerly prevailing winds favor 30 the majority of the time. No intersection departures. Using the full length of the runway is both safer and ensures aircraft are as high as possible before leaving the airport perimeter. Maintain pattern altitude of 6,500' for single engine aircraft and 7,000' for twins/turboprops/jets. No engine maintenance run-ups between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. except in an emergency. [VNAP Guidelines:] Quiet hours: No departures between 10:00pm and 5:00am, unless required for currency or training per federal regulations. Reduce repetition: Limit to 10 touch-and-go operations. Limit nighttime aircraft: Limit to 4 aircraft in north runway pattern. Lower pattern density: No more than 8 aircraft per runway. Note: The above procedures are recommended... All recommended procedures are at the pilot's discretion, consistent with safety and ATC instructions. Safety always comes first!
