Published by the airport sponsor; voluntary unless ATC assigns it. If ATC assigns this route to you in Class B, C or D airspace, that assignment is an ATC instruction and compliance is required (14 CFR 91.123) — and “unable” remains available to the pilot in command.
Six named entry reporting points — Buffalo Hill, Mallard Reservoir, Bus Depot, Downtown Concord, the "Y", Morello Overpass — with the 626' MSL crossing that clears fixed-wing patterns.
The route
- Fly over freeways as much as possible and maintain a minimum altitude of 1,000 feet AGL
- Whenever possible, approaches should remain at or above 500 feet AGL until within airport boundaries
- All VFR flights should cross a point one mile from the airport at 626 feet MSL (600 feet AGL) in order to clear fixed-wing patterns
- Expect one of six reporting points: N-NW Buffalo Hill (2.25 mi); N Mallard Reservoir (2 mi); NE Bus Depot (2 mi); E-SE Downtown Concord (1.5 mi); E-S the "Y" at Hwy 242/680 (2 mi); W Morello Overpass (1.5 mi)
