KGON Groton-New London — local VFR procedures
Not for navigation. These are locally published VFR routes, reproduced with sources; verify against the official documents linked from each procedure before flight.
Runway 23 is the designated calm wind runway. Neither the Airport Authority nor the FAA publishes any noise abatement procedure for runway 15, although runway 15/33 is a full 4,000 ft runway.
VFR departures
Northeast flow — 5
- Runway 5 Departure — Turn left to heading 020° until reaching 1,000 ft, then on course.
Southwest flow — 23
- Runway 23 Departure — Turn left to heading 210° until reaching 1,000 ft, then on course. Runway 23 is also the calm-wind runway.
Northwest flow — 33
- Runway 33 Departure — Fly runway heading until reaching 1,000 ft, then on course.

- Touch-and-Go & Run-Up Hours — No touch-and-go 2200-0600 (prohibited) and none requested from sunset to 0800 (voluntary); no maintenance run-ups 2200-0700.
These routes are advisory as published — none of them is a regulation. Assigned by ATC in Class B, C or D airspace, a route becomes an ATC instruction under 14 CFR 91.123; “unable” remains available to the pilot in command.
