Runway 24 is the designated calm wind runway. Left traffic for runway 6, right traffic for runway 24. Pattern altitudes: twin/jet 2,000' MSL, single engine 1,500' MSL, helicopters 1,000' MSL. No jet training due to noise abatement and traffic congestion.
VFR arrivals
Runway 24 / 6
- VFR Arrivals — Hold 2,300 ft MSL until 3 NM out; jets fly the localizer on or above glideslope to 24.
VFR departures
West flow — 24
- Runway 24 Departure — 250° track north of Palomar Airport Road — jets to 1 mile offshore, props joining the Coastal VFR Flyway (the ALPHA departure); eastbound props request right downwind.
East flow — 6
- Runway 6 Departure — North- and southbound request a left downwind, climbing to 800 ft before turning and staying north of Palomar Airport Road to the Coastal Flyway; east-facing departures hold runway heading to 1,500 ft.

- Quiet Hours & South Pattern Closure — Jet quiet hours 2200-0700 and all-aircraft 0000-0600; the runway 6/24 south VFR traffic pattern is closed 2200-0700 except for emergencies.
