vfr departure Airport sponsor published verified 2026-08-28 (42 d ago)
Published by the airport sponsor; voluntary unless ATC assigns it. If ATC assigns this route to you in Class B, C or D airspace, that assignment is an ATC instruction and compliance is required (14 CFR 91.123) — and “unable” remains available to the pilot in command.
NBAA Close-In profile: quiet climb power at 500 ft AFL rather than 1,000, which is what distinguishes these from runway 16.
The route
- Climb at maximum practical rate at V2+20 KIAS to 500 feet AFL with takeoff flap setting
- At 500 ft AFL, reduce to a quiet climb power setting while maintaining 1,000 FPM maximum climb rate and V2+20 KIAS until reaching 1,000 ft AFL
- At 1,000 ft AFL, accelerate to final segment speed and retract flaps; maintain quiet climb power, 1,000 FPM and not more than 190 KIAS until 3,000 ft AFL
- At 3,000 ft AFL and above, resume normal climb schedule with gradual application of climb power
- When holding at the 34 pad, align the aircraft to a heading of 190° while waiting for takeoff, for noise abatement
- Aircraft over 75,000 lbs operating under Part 121, 125 or 135 may not be permitted to comply with this procedure
When it applies
- Departing 34 or 30 or 12 "When departing runways 34, 30 and 12, please use NBAA Close-In Departure Procedure"
