Published by the airport sponsor; voluntary unless ATC assigns it. If ATC assigns this route to you in Class B, C or D airspace, that assignment is an ATC instruction and compliance is required (14 CFR 91.123) — and “unable” remains available to the pilot in command.

Touch-and-go restricted to piston aircraft; practice flying not below 4,000 ft (5,000 for jets); helicopters arrive and depart offshore.

The route

  1. Touch-and-go is restricted to piston aircraft
  2. Pleasure and practice flying, including ground reference maneuvers, shall not be conducted below 4,000 feet for turboprop and piston aircraft, and 5,000 feet for turbojet aircraft
  3. Helicopters: arrive and depart from offshore — do not overfly populated areas. When offshore stratus prohibits it, remain over the Highway 101 freeway
  4. Sightseeing over populated areas is strongly discouraged

VFR OVER FLIGHTS/PRACTICE
Touch & Go — Restricted to piston aircraft. Pleasure & practice flying, including ground reference maneuvers, shall not be conducted below 4000 feet for turboprop and piston aircraft and 5000 feet for turbojet aircraft.
VFR QUIET FLIGHT PROCEDURES/HELICOPTERS
NOTE: Arrive and depart from offshore - DO NOT OVERFLY POPULATED AREAS. When stratus offshore prohibits flight, helicopters should remain over Hwy. 101 Freeway.
Sight seeing over populated areas is strongly discouraged.
