Numerous general aviation aircraft use runways 15L and 15R, and their downwind crosses runway 7/25 at 1,000 ft. Rising terrain up to 650' MSL. The high-performance sheet's margin reads "ATC ASSIGNED HEADING AND ALTITUDES TAKE PRECEDENCE OVER NOISE ABATEMENT TRACKS."

VFR arrivals

Runway 15L / 15R / 25 / 7

  • VFR Arrivals — Enter the Class C via Highway 101 at or above 1,500 ft until 4 miles for the 15s; base legs offshore for 25 and 07.

Runway 7 / 25

  • High-Performance Visual Approaches — Runway 7 straight in from the west or offshore downwind from the east; runway 25 offshore south of the Gaviota 099 radial to More Mesa, then left base.

VFR departures

All runways — 15L / 15R / 33L / 33R / 25 / 7

  • VFR Departures — A published instruction per runway end: straight ahead a mile off the 15s, turn before Highway 101 off the 33s, right to the shoreline off 07.

  • Practice Operations & Helicopters — Touch-and-go restricted to piston aircraft; practice flying not below 4,000 ft (5,000 for jets); helicopters arrive and depart offshore.
