Published by the airport sponsor; voluntary unless ATC assigns it. If ATC assigns this route to you in Class B, C or D airspace, that assignment is an ATC instruction and compliance is required (14 CFR 91.123) — and “unable” remains available to the pilot in command.
A published instruction per runway end: straight ahead a mile off the 15s, turn before Highway 101 off the 33s, right to the shoreline off 07.
The route
- Runways 15L/15R: after takeoff climb straight ahead for at least one mile prior to any turns
- Runways 33L/33R: complete the right or left turn after departure prior to the Highway 101 freeway
- Runway 25: due to noise sensitive development west of the airport, use fly-quiet procedures for the type of aircraft being operated
- Runway 07: after one mile, turn right and exit toward the shoreline

SANTA BARBARA MUNICIPAL AIRPORT / GENERAL AVIATION VFR OPERATIONS ONLY / NOISE ABATEMENT ARRIVAL & DEPARTURE PROCEDURES VFR QUIET FLIGHT PROCEDURES/FIXED WING — DEPARTURES 15L/15R — After takeoff climb straight ahead for at least one mile prior to any turns. 33L/33R — Complete right or left turn after departure prior to Hwy. 101 Freeway. 25 — Due to noise sensitive development surrounding the area west of the airport all pilots are requested to use fly quiet procedures for the type of aircraft being operated. 07 — After one mile, turn right, exit toward shoreline. SAFETY REMAINS THE PARAMOUNT CONCERN and these recommended procedures are secondary to pilot and ATC requirements.
