noise abatement Airport sponsor published verified 2026-08-28 (42 d ago)
Published by the airport sponsor; voluntary unless ATC assigns it. If ATC assigns this route to you in Class B, C or D airspace, that assignment is an ATC instruction and compliance is required (14 CFR 91.123) — and “unable” remains available to the pilot in command.
Avoid landing from the north or departing to the north over the City of Hailey — in Chart Supplement shorthand, depart south and arrive north.
The route
- Avoid landing from the north or departing to the north over the City of Hailey, unless weather, aircraft performance, pilot experience and familiarity, or company operations specifications dictate otherwise
- Comply with the established arrival and departure corridors depicted on the brochure map
- Compliance depends on weather, ATC instructions, aircraft performance, and pilot experience and familiarity with the airport — safety always takes priority
When it applies
- Departing 13 — depart south The airport asks pilots to avoid "departing to the north over the City of Hailey" and names no runway; Hailey lies north of the field and runway 13 is the southeast-facing end, so a departure away from Hailey is a runway 13 departure. The FAA Chart Supplement states the same preference as "DEPART SOUTH"
- Arriving 31 — arrive north The airport asks pilots to avoid "landing from the north over the City of Hailey" and names no runway; approaching from the south to land northwest-bound is a runway 31 arrival. The FAA Chart Supplement states the same preference as "ARRIVE NORTH"
