Compliance is required by law — federal regulation or a local ordinance with enforcement authority.
Port Authority rule: runway 24 departures capped at 80 dB(A) 2200-0700 and 90 dB(A) otherwise, 95 dB(A) all other runways. Three recorded violations and the aircraft is barred from Teterboro.
The route
- Runway 24: maximum noise level 80 dB(A) between 2200 and 0700 local, 90 dB(A) at all other times
- All other runways, and helicopter routes originating at the airport: 95 dB(A)
- If runway 19 is closed by NOTAM, or the crosswind component exceeds the aircraft's maximum allowable for a runway 19 takeoff, the applicable limit for runway 24 becomes 95 dB(A)
- Aircraft with three recorded maximum-noise-level violations shall not be permitted to operate at Teterboro Airport
- No jet-powered aircraft may operate at Teterboro without prior approval of the Airport Manager; no Stage I operations are permitted at any time
- No Stage II low-bypass jets over 75,000 lbs may be planned or scheduled between midnight and 0600
