Ordinance: 82 dBA max / 88 SENEL by day, 76/82 at night, and no departures 2200-0700 weekdays or 2200-0800 weekends and holidays.
The route
- Daytime (0700-2200 weekdays, 0800-2200 weekends and holidays): no aircraft may exceed 88 dBA SENEL or 82 dBA maximum sound level measured outside the extended airport boundaries
- Night: the limits fall to 82 dBA SENEL and 76 dBA maximum sound level
- No aircraft shall depart between 2200 and 0700 weekdays, or 2200 and 0800 Saturdays, Sundays and listed holidays
- Touch-and-go and stop-and-go operations are prohibited at all times
- Low approaches and full-stop taxi-backs are permitted only 1000-1800 Monday to Friday, and are prohibited on city observed holidays and all other hours
- In a training flight, the instructor pilot is rebuttably presumed to have caused any violation

[TMC 46.8.8 AIRCRAFT NOISE LIMIT:] ...no aircraft taking off from or landing on the Torrance Municipal Airport may exceed a single event noise exposure level (SENEL) of 88 dBA or a maximum sound level of 82 dBA measured at ground level outside the extended Airport boundaries. [46.8.9 AIRCRAFT NOISE LIMIT AT NIGHT:] ...between the hours of 10:00 P.M. of any day and 7:00 A.M. of the following morning on any Monday through Friday inclusive, nor between the hours of 10:00 P.M. each night and 8:00 A.M. of the following morning on any Saturday or Sunday... may exceed a single event noise exposure level (SENEL) of 82 dBA or a maximum sound level of 76 dBA. [51.4.1 NIGHT DEPARTURES:] ...no aircraft shall depart (takeoff) from the Airport between the hours of 10:00 P.M. each night and 7:00 A.M. of the following morning on any Monday through Friday inclusive, nor between the hours of 10:00 P.M. each night and 8:00 A.M. of the following morning on any Saturday or Sunday. [51.5.5 PROHIBITED OPERATIONS:] No touch and go operation or stop and go operation shall be permitted at the Airport. [Noise Abatement Guide:] TOUCH & GO AND STOP & GO ARE PROHIBITED AT ALL TIMES. ... The TMC will be fully enforced and any violation not considered an emergency or directed by the ATCT will result in the issuance of a Notice to Appear before the Administrative Hearing Board. Torrance's Noise Ordinance makes no distinction between IFR and VFR. You are advised that if your aircraft is likely to violate the City's noise standards while departing IFR, you will have to await better weather conditions and depart VFR.
