vfr arrival Airport sponsor published verified 2026-08-28 (42 d ago)
Published by the airport sponsor; voluntary unless ATC assigns it. If ATC assigns this route to you in Class B, C or D airspace, that assignment is an ATC instruction and compliance is required (14 CFR 91.123) — and “unable” remains available to the pilot in command.
Fly the full pattern — early turns over the residential parks west of the field cause most of the complaints. 45° downwind entry, midfield crossing at 2,200 ft.
The route
- Fly the full pattern: early turns and shortcuts over nearby residential areas at low altitude cause many of the Aurora noise complaints, and flying the full pattern avoids overflying the residential parks west of the airport
- Enter the traffic pattern at a 45° downwind
- Midfield crossing: cross the runway at 2,200' MSL (2,700' MSL jets) and maneuver to a 45° entry
- Inbound flight path should not require more than a 25° bank angle to follow the noise abatement track; initial inbound altitude is a descending path from 2,500 ft AGL or higher
- During landing, use minimum reverse thrust consistent with safety for runway conditions and available length
- Use quiet power and prop settings when safely feasible
When it applies
- Arriving 17 or 35 — all arrivals The arrival items name no runway; the after-hours left-traffic item is stated "for both runways"
