KBFI Boeing Fld/King County Intl — local VFR procedures
Not for navigation. These are locally published VFR routes, reproduced with sources; verify against the official documents linked from each procedure before flight.
Every route map in the set carries a standing red "DO NOT OVERFLY VA HOSPITAL" marker. The hospital is on the crown of Beacon Hill 2.0 NM NORTH of the field, not west of it, and two routes — the Dawgs Departure and the 520 Arrival — position off it by name. All listed altitudes are MSL; AOB = at or below.
VFR arrivals
North flow — 32L / 32R
- Vashon Arrival — Arrival from the west over north Vashon Island to the left downwind.
- Cougar Arrival — Arrival from the east over downtown Bellevue via Mercer Island and Seward Park to the right downwind.
South flow — 14L / 14R
- 520 Arrival — Arrival from the northeast over the 520 floating bridge to a modified straight-in for 14L or 14R.
- Blake Arrival — Arrival from the west over Blake Island and the north end of Lincoln Park to the right downwind.
- Valley Arrival — Arrival from the south along SR-167 from Kent to the left downwind.
VFR departures
North flow — 32L / 32R
- Dawgs Departure — Departure to the northeast via the Mount Baker Tunnel at the western shoreline of Lake Washington.
- Alki Departure — Left crosswind departure northwest to Alki Beach.
- Blake Departure — Left crosswind departure west toward Blake Island.
- Rainier Beach Transition — Right-downwind departure southeast over Rainier Beach and midfield KRNT toward SR-169 and the Cedar Hills landfill.
South flow — 14L / 14R
- Sammamish Departure — Left-downwind departure northeast via the I-90 bridge and north tip of Mercer Island toward Bellevue.
- Vashon Departure — Departure off 14R with a continuous right turn over the Duwamish, then west toward the north tip of Vashon Island.
- Mountain Departure — Departure southeast via Southcenter Mall.
These routes are advisory as published — none of them is a regulation. Assigned by ATC in Class B, C or D airspace, a route becomes an ATC instruction under 14 CFR 91.123; “unable” remains available to the pilot in command. Each procedure page shows its own authority level and links its primary sources.
