transition route Airport sponsor published verified 2026-08-28 (42 d ago)
Published by the airport sponsor; voluntary unless ATC assigns it. If ATC assigns this route to you in Class B, C or D airspace, that assignment is an ATC instruction and compliance is required (14 CFR 91.123) — and “unable” remains available to the pilot in command.
Four named routes — Yankee Two, Gecko Two, Snake Two and Cactus Two — plus stay east of the Roosevelt Irrigation Canal and hold 1,900 ft MSL within two miles.
The route
- Use helicopter arrival and departure procedures Yankee Two, Gecko Two, Snake Two or Cactus Two as directed by ATC when operating in Class D airspace — the City names these four routes but publishes no description of them, so ask ATC or the airport for the routing
- Remain east of the Roosevelt Irrigation Canal directly west of the airport runways
- Maintain 1,900 ft MSL for operations within two miles of the airport
- Reduce airspeed below maximum cruising speed to minimize blade slap; climb at best rate and avoid maximum power climbs
- Minimize time spent hovering and avoid sharp maneuvers such as rapid G turns
- No repetitive training operations between 2200 and 0530 Arizona time
When it applies
- Runway 4L or 4R or 22L or 22R — helicopters The helicopter sheet names no runway. The four route names are quoted exactly as printed; the document gives no description of any of them
