San Diego Municipal Code: 88 dB day / 70 dB night measured in residential areas, no touch-and-go 2330-0630, fines to $250 and a three-year denial of the airport after three violations.

The route

  1. 0630-2330: no aircraft taking off or landing shall exceed 88 dB maximum sound level or 94 dB SENEL, measured outside the airport boundary in any area zoned and used for residential purposes
  2. 2330-0630: the limits fall to 70 dB maximum sound level and 76 dB SENEL
  3. No touch-and-go, stop-and-go or low approach is permitted between 2330 and 0630
  4. Violation is an infraction; exceeding the limit may result in fines of up to $250, and repeat or significant violations draw an administrative citation
  5. Three or more violations in a three-year period denies the person the right to land, take off or rent space at the airport for three years; using the airport after that denial is a misdemeanor
  6. In a training flight, the instructor pilot is presumed to have caused the violation

§68.0158 Aircraft Noise Limit
(a) ...no aircraft taking off or landing at Montgomery Field Airport between the hours of 6:30 a.m. and 11:30 p.m. of the same day shall exceed a maximum sound level of 88 decibels or a single event noise equivalent level of 94 decibels measured at any point between ground level and twenty (20) feet above ground level outside of the Airport boundary in any area zoned and used for residential purposes.
(b) ...between the hours of 11:30 p.m. and 6:30 a.m. of the following day shall exceed a maximum sound level of 70 decibels or a single event noise equivalent level of 76 decibels...
§68.0160 Prohibited Operations
No touch and go operations, stop and go operation, or a low approach shall be permitted at Montgomery Field Airport between the hours of 11:30 p.m. and 6:30 a.m.
§68.0157 Penalties (a) It shall be unlawful and an infraction for any person to operate, pilot, or permit to be operated or piloted an aircraft in violation of Sections 68.0158 or 68.0160.
§68.0164 Denial of Use of Airport ...three or more times... within a three-year period, then for a period of three years thereafter, such person shall be denied the right to land or takeoff from the Airport.
§68.0161 Culpability of Instructor Pilots ...the instructor pilot shall be presumed to have caused such violation.
