vfr departure Airport sponsor published verified 2026-08-28 (42 d ago)

Published by the airport sponsor; voluntary unless ATC assigns it. If ATC assigns this route to you in Class B, C or D airspace, that assignment is an ATC instruction and compliance is required (14 CFR 91.123) — and “unable” remains available to the pilot in command.

Right turn as soon as practical after departing 21 — the City's two current documents give the target heading as 300° and 335° respectively.

The route

  1. Make a right turn as soon as possible after departing runway 21. The City's noise abatement web page says "right turn to 300 degrees"; the City's Pilot's Guide (August 2025) says "right turn to 335 degrees" — the two documents disagree and neither supersedes the other on its face
  2. Alternatively, make a climbing full 270° right turn before heading east or southbound
  3. Straight-out and left turns on departure from runway 21 are discouraged
  4. Aircraft are requested to make short final approaches to runway 21, avoiding direct overflight of residential areas
