Runway 2, the preferred noise departure: straight out until abeam the sewage treatment plant, then left to the Truck Scales on I-80.
The route
- Runway 2 is the preferred departure for noise, and offers the most options in the event of a loss of power
- Fly runway heading until abeam the Sewage Treatment plant, then left to the Truck Scales — turning before the plant, or flying straight out to the freeway, results in overflight of homes
- From the Truck Scales proceed on course, staying near the freeway if east- or westbound
- If departing runway 11: after gaining altitude, follow the runway 2 departure procedure

• Runway 02 is the preferred departure for noise and offers the most options in the event of a loss of power. • For a successful departure please fly runway heading until abeam Sewage Treatment plant, then left to Truck Scales. Turning before Sewage Treatment plant results in overflight of homes. Flying straight out to the freeway will also result in overflight of homes. • If departing Runway 11, after gaining altitude, follow Runway 02 departure procedure. [News, Nov 20 2023:] The noise abatement procedure off Runway 2, known as the Scales Departure is a straight out departure until abeam the Sewage Treatment plant then a left turn to the Truck Scales on Interstate 80. From there proceed on course staying near the freeway if east or westbound.
