KTRK Truckee-Tahoe — local VFR procedures
Not for navigation. These are locally published VFR routes, reproduced with sources; verify against the official documents linked from each procedure before flight.
Pattern altitude 7,000' MSL light aircraft, 7,500' turboprop & jets. Left traffic for all runways except 20. Glider operations 5 NM NW during daylight Mar-Oct; gliders use left traffic runway 20. Special hazards: high terrain, wind shear, density altitude, wildlife.
VFR arrivals
All arrivals — 2 / 11 / 20 / 29
- Prosser Reservoir Arrival — Arrival gateway from the north over Prosser Reservoir: heading 130 to I-80, then straight-in 20 or overhead to the downwind for another runway.
Runway 20 / 29
- Donner Lake Arrival — Arrival gateway from the west over Donner Lake to the runway 29 downwind along Highway 267, or the right downwind for runway 20.
- Landfill Arrival — Arrival gateway from the north to the extended runway 29 downwind along Highway 267, or the right downwind for runway 20.
VFR departures
Runway 2
- Scales Departure — Runway 2, the preferred noise departure: straight out until abeam the sewage treatment plant, then left to the Truck Scales on I-80.
Runway 11
- Scales Departure — Runway 2, the preferred noise departure: straight out until abeam the sewage treatment plant, then left to the Truck Scales on I-80.
Runway 29
- Bypass Departure — Runway 29: runway heading just past the end of the runway, slight right along the Highway 267 Bypass Bridge to I-80, then on course near roadways.
Runway 20
- Runway 20 Departure (Left 270) — Left 270 overhead the airport, then follow the runway 29 departure.

- Good Neighbor Noise Program & Curfew — Voluntary no-fly curfew 2200-0700; avoid residential areas and overfly roadways; Vx then Vy climbs; alternate runways for touch-and-go; calm-wind preference: depart 2, arrive 20.

Assigned by ATC in Class B, C or D airspace, a route becomes an ATC instruction under 14 CFR 91.123; “unable” remains available to the pilot in command.
